UNSW Confucius Institute
The UNSW Confucius Institute is based on the partnership between the University of New South Wales and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It is a university-wide initiative located with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Its activities are overseen by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and form part of the internationalisation strategy of the University.
The aim of the UNSW Confucius Institute is to reflect the multidisciplinary approach and diversity of Australia’s intellectual involvement with China by making the wide ranging links with China across the University accessible to a wider public, through advanced language training, China-related courses, teaching materials and documentation of research projects. This transcends the scope of traditional Chinese studies by including China research and collaborative projects across all Faculties. Our intention is to make the UNSW Confucius Institute a focal point for showcasing the breadth and depth of our China engagement and our cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, our partner university for the Confucius Institute.
