Indonesian Studies
UNSW has a long affiliation with indonesia that dates back to the post-war period and that has made unsw a preferred destination for Indonesian students coming
to Australia. What clearly distinguishes UNSW is the breadth as well as depth of its Indonesia related Asian Studies program together with an established language program that has a track record in leading students to Honours study and higher degree research. Indonesian is spoken by roughly 220 million people as either their first or second language. Combined with the knowledge of Indonesian history, culture and customs, Indonesian language skills are a valuable asset when working in the Asia Pacific region.
Indonesian Studies At UNSW

All our courses encourage student participation in class with an emphasis on interaction to develop speaking and listening skills. The aim is to produce professionals who can communicate fluently in Indonesian about a wide range of issues. Indonesian students on campus form a lively community offering many opportunities to practice Indonesian. The School of International Studies have recently installed new language laboratories incorporating the latest technology for language teaching and interpreting training. The Arts and Social Sciences internship course provides an opportunity to gain experience in the workplace.
